Our alumni often travel together to away football games, but two weeks ago, they did it first class. The Auburn Alumni Association along with Tigers Unlimited and Total Sports Travel took more than 30 alumni on a charter flight to Fayetteville, Ark.
The traveling Tigers met at the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport for the hour and 10 minute flight. The alumni were joined by 45 members of the pep band, 10 cheerleaders and the one-and-only Aubie. During the flight, everyone enjoyed sack lunches from Chick-fil-A.
Upon arrival, alumni and friends boarded chartered buses to make the 45-minute ride to the stadium. Once on campus, everyone was free to roam around and enjoy the beautiful weather. Though the University of Arkansas prohibits any kind of Tiger Walk, several alumni walked to the area where the team buses would drive up to the stadium and held an “impromptu Tiger Drive-By” according to Kate Larkin, Alumni Programs Manager.
After an exciting game and a disappointing loss, everyone boarded the buses and braved the post-game traffic as they returned to the airport. On the plane, passengers ate boxed meals from Jason’s Deli and arrived back in Birmingham at 2 a.m.
Regardless of the game’s outcome, everyone enjoyed the trip and the opportunity to visit another campus with the Auburn Family. Visit the website http://www.aualum.org/travel for information about the Georgia trip and more information about away game travel with the Auburn Alumni Association.
If you attended the Auburn vs. Arkansas game, we would love to see your pictures! Send them to wareagletravelers@auburn.edu and share your trip with the rest of the Auburn Family!
