Two days at sea and we are to our first stop, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. We were thrilled to be in Cabo. Anchored at 7:00 am and we departed at 3:00 pm. We had learned the night prior that our excursion was canceled due to the lack of participation. There was a part of me that was relieved. You see I have never been in the ocean above my knees and we were signed-up for a snorkeling excursion.

We made our way back to Lover's Beach. You see this is where we were going to snorkel. "Great, I have to do this we have paid for it." I even had to jump into the water to get to the beach. "What am I doing? Is that JAWS music I hear? Did I just see a fin?" There he was, Marteen, the guy who was going to help us get ready to snorkel. He had such a big smile on his face. We followed him to the "great spot". All the time my heart is beating faster and faster, "Thank you God that I can see through the water. That is a good thing, right? Do I want to see it coming? Or just be blind and never know what hit me." Josh was in the water first. He is always my knight in shining armor. He readied himself and extended his hand to me. I cautiously entered the water, tried to put on my flippers at which point I did a nose dive into the sand (the waves are harsh when you are trying to put on flippers). Well, that was easy I have now officially been in the ocean above my knees. I finally got the goggles and flippers put on and grabbed Josh's hand SO tight! "Breath, no not through your nose, breath, no not through your nose, OK I got it." Head down and look at all the fish! WOW! Pure 100% beauty. I can not believe I wasted 28 years and had not done this before. It is absolutely breathtaking down there. At some point I let go of Josh and never looked back. I highly recommend this to anyone in Cabo. The water was crystal clear and the fish were everywhere. The "smaller" fish stayed really close. We were feeding them old bread and one actually nicked my finger tip. The "big" (and yes I mean big) fish lingered towards the bottom and would only lurk in the shadows of the deep. It was over too soon. I knew I would snorkel again (I will up date you on that one later). What a day in beautiful Cabo San Lucas, and to think Josh was nervous to go snorkeling ;o)
My sweet hubby was so persistent on snorkeling (I was hoping he had forgotten). After many attempts we finally found a tour company we both agreed on. The Guide was fabulous. It was just us and one other couple in the glass-bottom boat. He started the tour with showing us a Mexican turkey (aka Pelican) and then a Mexican chicken (aka seagull). He was very funny and ended each sentence with the "AAARRRRR" of a pirate. As we made our way around the Sea of Cortez he showed us Lover's Beach and Los Arcos (see inserted photo). We then headed to the Pacific Ocean side where we were shown Divorce Beach. Yes, Lover's Beach and Divorce Beach share the same sand. They are just on different body's of water. He said the waters were to rough on Divorce Beach side and to stay on Lover's Beach. I am sure there was a joke in there, but he was also telling the truth!
